Reforestation Fest – Platbos
GreenPop is a social business that believes greening and sustainable living can be fun, popular and accessible for all. They believe in inspiring a greener, more conscious, inclusive movement and do this through tree planting projects, green events, education, social media, voluntarism and activating people to start doing!
One of the ways they achieve this is by holding the Reforestation Fest every year for 3 years running. This exciting festival has seen over 8000 indigenous trees being planted in the southern-most forest of Africa. Platbos, a relic forest with trees of over 1000 years of age, and forms part of one of the rare and endangered ecosystems of the Western Cape.
The annual Reforest Fest is an attempt to protect and grow the ancient forest through a massive reforestation festival, where atendants plant trees, hear great music, eat delicious food, and share a weekend of great energy and spirit in Platbos Forest.
JesseJames were lucky enough to be a part of all of the action, by being one of the official partners that help make this very special event happen.
And we did this in the best way we know how . . . BUILDING STUFF!!!
During our week in the forest preparing for the festival, we built 5 eloquent long drop toilets and a beautiful big arch marking the entrance to the forest. All built from alien vegetation found and felled byJesseJames in the Platbos forest.
Thanks Sydelle Willow for the couple amazing pics.
